Our Classic Bone Broth liquid cartons are best sipped warm from a mug - simple and nourishing. Our Instant Broths are great for a savoury drink on the go, or used in place of stock cubes in soups, stews, risottos and sauces. Our Bone Broth Protein powder can be added to meals or smoothies for a neutral boost of collagen and protein. Our Collagen Protein Shakes are subtly sweet and can be sipped on their own, blended into smoothies, or stirred into coffee for an easy, nourishing drink.

Our bone broth is 100% free of preservatives and artificial additives, with a shelf-life of up to 24 months.
We achieve this shelf-life by using a specific heating and packing process. Once the simmering process is complete, the broth is heated to a higher temperature for a short period of time (30 to 60 seconds), before it’s cooled back down and poured straight into the cartons in an airtight, aseptic environment.
You can also freeze our liquid broths for up to 6 months if you don’t get through them before the best before date.
Yes! In fact, it shows that it’s good quality. The jiggly stuff is actually collagen, which shows up when properly made bone broths are cooled in the fridge. Once warmed up, it becomes a delicious, silky smooth consistency again.
The key difference is in how long it’s simmered. While bone broth is simmered for as long as 24 hours to extract as many nutrients as possible, stock is made purely for flavour, simmered for just enough time to make a delicious-tasting liquid used in cooking. Making meals with bone broth (or sipping it straight-up) is not only delicious, it’s more nourishing, too.
For any specific medical concerns, please consult your doctor. However bone broth is a source of glycine, an amino acid which plays an essential role in liver function, crucial for processing and removing excess cholesterol from the body.
We’re not medical professionals, so it’s always best to speak to your doctor before making any dietary changes - especially during pregnancy.
That said, many expectant mums choose to include bone broth as part of a nourishing routine. Bone broth is a natural source of protein, collagen, and amino acids like glycine and proline, as well as minerals such as calcium and magnesium. These nutrients can help to support hydration, digestion, bone maintenance and muscle function - areas that are often top of mind during pregnancy.
Glycine and gelatin, in particular, may help support digestive comfort, while collagen plays a role in skin elasticity and connective tissue formation.
All Freja broths are made from non-GMO, pasture-raised bones with no additives - just simple, real-food ingredients. Salt levels vary slightly across products, so it’s worth checking the label if you’re monitoring your intake.
We give Freja to our own children to help support their nutritional intake, and they love it! It’s a natural, nutrient-rich food, made only with ingredients you’d find in your own kitchen.
That said, some of our products do contain salt, so it’s worth bearing that in mind for little ones. We’re not medical professionals, so if you're making changes to a child’s diet, it’s always best to check with your doctor or health visitor first.

Sourcing & packaging
Organic certification is not common in Scandinavia (where we produce our broths) because they expect all produce to be of the highest quality with minimal intervention. In Norway, the smaller scale co-operative farms, expansive pastures and colder climate make prime conditions for healthy, well-cared for animals. When it comes to medicating farmed animals, Norway has some of the strictest regulations in the world, with the lowest use of antibiotics versus any other country. Our grass-fed cows and free-range chickens are never given unnecessary antibiotics to prevent diseases, and it’s forbidden to use hormonal growth-promoting drugs.
Many of our ingredients are sourced from Scandinavia, where animal welfare standards are among the highest in the world. In colder months, animals are typically housed in well-insulated barns, and when indoors, chickens are given more space per square metre than anywhere else in the EU.
- Our liquid bone broths are made using chicken and grass-fed beef sourced from small, cooperative farms in Norway.
- Our Bone Broth Protein powder and Collagen Protein Shakes are made from Nordic bones raised without the use of hormones or GMO feed.
- Our Instant Bone Broths use EU-sourced bones from farms that meet strict animal welfare standards.
Bone broth is made using a by-product of the farming industry - the bones. By using them to make broth, we are helping to support a more sustainable food system. We only work with trusted suppliers who meet our high standards for animal welfare, traceability, and ingredient integrity.
Freja’s liquid bone broths begin with high-welfare beef or chicken bones, first roasted in a hot oven to deepen the flavour. We then slow-simmer them with vegetables and herbs for up to 24 hours to extract collagen, amino acids, and minerals. Once cooked, the broth is defatted and strained into a clear, savoury liquid.
All our powders, whether Instant, Protein, or Shake, start with real bone broth, gently dehydrated to preserve the full nutritional profile, then ground into a fine, versatile powder.
